Register for Potential Projects The Australian Cycling Sector is working to gain Commonwealth support for an infrastructure funding inititative called the Healthy and Active Transport Program (HEAT). This funding program would provide $50 million each year for four years for significant, high quality cycling and walking infrastructure projects for urban, regional and rural areas.
Funding under this program would be provided to local councils for major projects costing $500,000 to $2,000,000 with significant benefits for the community.
Some larger, multi-year projects could also be funded, especially those across LGA boundaries.
Some smaller projects such as development of bike plans, upgrading of existing facilities, feasibility studies for larger scale projects and projects to provide ancillary facilities such as end of trip facilities could also be funded (value $50,000 plus).
We have developed a tool to enable local government and cycling organisations to register potential projects which could be funded under such a program. This will assist the cycling sector to provide practical examples of potential projects to both the Government and Opposition in the lead up to election and beyond.
